Bishop Museum Invites ʻOhana to Family-Friendly Dino Night: "The Land Before Time" + Expedition Dinosaur: Into the Deep
Honolulu, Hawaiʻi — Bishop Museum, the State of Hawai'i Museum of Natural and Cultural History, invites local and visiting ʻohana to a family friendly Dino Night: During Museum After Hours on Friday, Aug. 8, attendees will enjoy an outdoor screening of the classic animated feature, "The Land Before Time" — plus explore the Museum's newest exhibition, Expedition Dinosaur: Into the Deep.
"School may be back in session but summer's not over yet!" shared Brandon Bunag, Ed.D., Bishop Museum vice president of public programs and interim director of education. "Our August Museum After Hours event features a double header of dinosaurs, access to our galleries, Hawaiian games and activities, plus ʻono food and drinks, perfect for a family picnic and movie on our Great Lawn."
The $10 pre-sale admission includes access to Expedition Dinosaur: Into the Deep in the Museum's Castle Memorial Building from 5-7 p.m., then "The Land Before Time" at 7 p.m. on its Great Lawn. Admission also includes access to the Museum's galleries until 7 p.m., plus kōnane games, lau hana-weaving and lei-making demonstrations, ʻukulele lessons, and keiki activities with the Ulu Aʻe Learning Center. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on the Great Lawn from 5 p.m.

About "The Land Before Time" (1988)

Littlefoot, a young plant-eating dinosaur, is orphaned after his mother perishes while protecting him from a vicious carnivore. With her last breath, she tells him how to get to the legendary Great Valley, where he will be reunited with others of his kind. With his friend Cera, Littlefoot sets out for the fabled land, meeting a variety of new friends along the way — while also being tracked by the killer dinosaur that mortally wounded his mother.

This expansive 7,000-square-foot exhibit highlights fascinating parallels between prehistoric marine ecosystems and the diverse aquatic habitats surrounding our islands today.
Visitors of all ages will delight in interactive and engaging activities, including fossil digs, augmented reality sandboxes that explore volcanic island formation, dinosaur-themed animation studios, and the immersive "Journey to the Deep Theater."
