# Bishop Museum Launches New Series of Monthly "After Hours" Events
Bishop Museum After Hours occurs the second Friday of every month, and offers fun, educational experiences for guests of all ages in a relaxed, pau hana setting.
Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum will launch a new series of monthly events starting this Friday, March 11, 2022. Called "Bishop Museum After Hours," the events will occur the second Friday of every month, from 5:30 – 9 p.m., and offers fun, educational experiences for guests of all ages in a relaxed, pau hana setting.
The After Hours events feature a reduced admission rate of $10 for kamaʻāina ($5 for keiki 4-17), and Bishop Museum Members get in free.
All the After Hours events will include food trucks, available beer and wine for guests 21 and over, as well as live music that guests can enjoy on the Museum's Great Lawn. In addition to access to the Museum's permanent Signature Galleries and its changing exhibitions and installations, After Hours will also include special programming only available during its nighttime schedule.
"The past, two years have been tumultuous for all of us, and Bishop Museum appreciates our local ʻohana and communities that have sustained us through these times," said Brandon Bunag, vice president of public programs and interim director of education. "Through these After Hours pau hana events, we hope to provide a safe, relaxed environment for working families to visit the Museum during evening hours, and enjoy a few perks at a reduced admission rate," said Bunag.
This Friday, the After Hours programming includes a live talk story with one of the Museum's researchers and explorers, Dr. Richard Pyle, senior curator of ichthyology and director for the Center for the Exploration of Coral Reef Ecosystems (XCore). Robert Kealiimaikai Silva, a Living Culture Practitioner, will also do a demonstration on lau niu (coconut fronds) weaving, with an activity where guests can weave their own creation to take home. Additionally, the Museum's Membership Department will feature an exclusive Membership Lounge where guests can meet and greet with the presenters. Contemporary Hawaiian music will be performed by Nā Hōkū Hanohano award finalist Kekoa Osurman.
"Bishop Museum After Hours welcomes kamaʻāina and visitors to explore Hawaiʻi's unique and unparalleled cultural and natural history," said Bunag. "Come see Kalaniʻōpuʻu's feather ʻahu ʻula (cape) and mahiole (helmet) in Hawaiian Hall; check out Hawaiʻi's animal and plant biodiversity in the Science Adventure Center; explore our newest exhibitions in the Castle Memorial Building and J.M. Long Gallery; and, spend your evening under Honolulu's star-lit sky on our Great Lawn with food and drinks for sale by local vendors. There's really something for everyone."

Timed General Admissions can be booked on the hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at BishopMuseum.org/Tickets. Tickets for Bishop Museum After Hours events can be purchased via this same webpage.
