Bishop Museum to Host COVID-19 Vaccination Events

With community health and wellbeing in mind, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum will host three vaccination events at a designated area on its campus.

Through a partnership with the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health and The Queen's Health Systems, no-cost, no-appointment vaccinations will be available at Bishop Museum on the following days and times:

• Saturday, September 18, 2021 10 a.m – 4 p.m.
• Saturday, October 9, 2021 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Saturday, October 16, 2021 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The vaccination events are open to the public. Pre-registration is highly recommended but not required. Participants may pre-register at forms.gle/6CdCwyt7saATc54P9.

Participants are asked to complete a Queen's Registration Form and Consent Form, and bring these with them on the day of their vaccination along with a photo ID and health insurance card, if they have one. Note that insurance is not required for vaccination.

The vaccinations will be done in a controlled environment separate from the Shop Pacifica main ticketing entrance. Once entering the campus, participants are asked to follow guides and/or directional signage to the vaccination area.

"Bishop Museum has been a part of the Honolulu community and Kalihi neighborhood for over 130 years," said Melanie Ide, Bishop Museum president and chief executive officer. "Our community has supported us through this recent, challenging time and we wish to reciprocate. Bishop Museum is committed to providing a safe place to work and visit, and we'd like to do our part to provide safe vaccination options for our community."

The vaccinations that will be available on the three event dates are:

• Pfizer vaccine, for those 12 years or older
• Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, for those 18 years or older
• Moderna vaccine, for those 18 years or older

Those who receive complete vaccinations at these events will receive a pass for free, one-day entry to Bishop Museum, for up to six persons, to be used on a date after their vaccination completion. To qualify, complete vaccination involves receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccination or completing the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

"We hope these vaccination events will help us all be better protected against COVID-19 and its variants," said Ide. "It's become very evident that overcoming this crisis will require coming together as a united community, with everyone doing their part to protect each other. As an ʻōlelo noʻeau (Hawaiian proverb) states, ʻPupukahi i holomua.' We must unite to move forward."

Bishop Museum Admission, Parking, and Hours

To control museum capacity we will be offering a maximum of 550 tickets.

Timed General Admissions can be booked on the hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at BishopMuseum.org/Tickets.

Once a timed admission is booked, please arrive at any time during your check-in hour. Arriving after your hour reservation check-in window by more than 15 minutes may require entry on a space-available basis. All admissions once checked in, are welcome to stay until close of business.

If you currently hold a pre-purchased Admission ticket that is still valid, those tickets will be honored on a space-available basis on the day of attendance.

Per the City & County of Honolulu's recent order*, effective Monday, September 13, 2021 all visitors to Bishop Museum age 12 and older must provide the following:

• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, and a valid photo ID; or
• Proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours, and a valid photo ID

Proof of vaccination includes:

• A hardcopy of a Hawaiʻi State-approved vaccination card (photocopies and digital copies are acceptable); or
• A Hawaiʻi State-approved app confirming full vaccination status

A map of COVID-19 testing sites can be found on the City & County of Honolulu's OneOahu.org website. Not all sites offer free testing and their hours may fluctuate from day to day, so please call them to confirm their hours and pricing.

Please note that the negative test result required must be from an FDA approved, or FDA EUA approved, molecular or antigen test. The Museum is not able to accept any undated negative COVID-19 test results.

Prior to entering the Museum, guests will be asked to undergo a temperature check. Guests are also asked to wear face masks and practice social distancing, both indoors and outdoors, during their visit.
