Event provides safe, fun, and educational activities for families, and free access to "Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals" for those who dress-up as dinosaurs

Just in time for Halloween, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum presents "Halloweekend: A Saturday of Play at Bishop Museum." With educational programs across the Museum's 15-acre campus, a social media costume contest, and prizes, Halloweekend will provide a safe and fun experience for families to celebrate Halloween festivities, Bishop Museum-style. Attendees can enjoy Halloweekend on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Dress up as a dinosaur for free entry into "Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals"

Attendees who dress-up as a dinosaur on Halloweekend will receive free entry into the Museum's newest exhibit, "Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals."

Free entry applies to the additional exhibit fee for "Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals," and does not include Museum admission. Promotion applied at the Museum's Admissions Desk at Shop Pacifica. Attendees are encouraged to reserve their timed admission tickets online at BishopMuseum.org/Tickets.

Social Media Costume Contest

Additionally, keiki who are Hawaiʻi residents age 18 years and younger are invited to visit the Museum in costume and participate in its social media costume contest. To enter, guests are asked to take a photo at the dinosaur banner selfie station near the Planetarium, or throughout the Dinosaur exhibit or across the Museum campus, then post to a parent's or guardian's public Instagram account. There will be one winner each from morning and afternoon submissions, plus an overall best photo winner.

Face masks that cover both the nose and mouth must be integrated into the costumes, and entries will be judged on their creativity, originality, and any tie-in to Bishop Museum.

A mail-in form of entry will also be available. Full contest rules are posted on the Bishop Museum website, and also being promoted on the Museum's social media channels (@BishopMuseum).

Halloweekend will also feature activities both indoors as well as outdoors through the Museum's Outdoor Museum concept; keiki and families can learn about native plants at the hands-on "GO and GROW!" activity station, color dinosaurs that come to life, enjoy the "haunted" Planet-scareium, and learn about the impact of plastic on our oceans at the Parley AIR Station Hawaiʻi.

"Halloweekend: A Saturday of Play at Bishop Museum" will be a safe event for families, with all Bishop Museum safety protocols regarding mask-wearing and social distancing being observed, as well as COVID-19 mandates at state and county levels.

Bishop Museum Admission, Parking, and Hours

To control Museum capacity, we will be offering a maximum of 125 tickets per hour of operation.

Timed General Admissions can be booked on the hour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at BishopMuseum.org/Tickets.

Once a timed admission is booked, please arrive at any time during your check-in hour. Arriving after your hour reservation check-in window by more than 15 minutes may require entry on a space-available basis. All admissions once checked in, are welcome to stay until close of business.

If you currently hold a pre-purchased Admission ticket that is still valid, those tickets will be honored on a space-available basis on the day of attendance.

Per the City & County of Honolulu's recent order*, effective Monday, September 13, 2021 all visitors to Bishop Museum age 12 and older must provide the following:

• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, and a valid photo ID; or
• Proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours, and a valid photo ID

Proof of vaccination includes:

• A hardcopy of a Hawaiʻi State-approved vaccination card (photocopies and digital copies are acceptable); or
• A Hawaiʻi State-approved app confirming full vaccination status

A map of COVID-19 testing sites can be found on the City & County of Honolulu's OneOahu.org website. Not all sites offer free testing and their hours may fluctuate from day to day, so please call them to confirm their hours and pricing.

Please note that the negative test result required must be from an FDA approved, or FDA EUA approved, molecular or antigen test. The Museum is not able to accept any undated negative COVID-19 test results.

Prior to entering the Museum, guests will be asked to undergo a temperature check. Guests are also asked to wear face masks and practice social distancing, both indoors and outdoors, during their visit.
